Malta Carnival 2027 runs 5–9 February in Valletta. Join one of Europe's oldest carnival traditions with giant floats, grotesque masks, competitive dances and free street parades through the baroque Old Town, closing with the grand finale in Floriana.
The Malta International Fireworks Festival returns to Valletta's Grand Harbour in April 2027. Over several evenings, local and international teams compete in a spectacular <strong>pyro-musical competition</strong>, lighting up the night sky above Malta's historic capital. Entry at all public viewing areas is free.
L-Imnarja is Malta's oldest folk festival, held every year on 28 and 29 June at Buskett Gardens near Rabat. Enjoy traditional għana folk music, horse and donkey races, agricultural exhibitions and the classic rabbit stew Fenkata. Free entry; 29 June is a public holiday in Malta.
Malta's festas are the island's cultural soul: over 80 free patron saint celebrations with spectacular church decorations, brass band marches and world-renowned fireworks run from May to October across Malta and Gozo. Inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2023.
Isle of MTV Malta is Europe's biggest free music festival, held every July at the Granaries in Floriana. World-class headline acts, up to 50,000 attendees and a full week of Malta Music Week parties make this one of the summer's most spectacular events. Free entry with advance registration required.
