Welcome to the Gösser Kirtag 2027 in Leoben

In 2027, downtown Leoben once again transforms into the site of Austria's longest folk festival. The 2026 edition was already the 188th, so the 2027 edition is expected to be the 189th. Along more than four kilometers of market streets around the main square and Gösser Straße, visitors can expect a colorful mix of music, food and Styrian tradition, traditionally with free admission. The organizers have not yet published the exact 2027 date.

What traditionally defines the Gösser Kirtag in Leoben

  • Around 300 to 350 market stalls along Austria's longest market street
  • A ceremonial beer tapping and official opening in the morning in Göss
  • Two stages with live music, brass bands and entertainment into the evening
  • Numerous fairground rides and attractions for the whole family
  • Regional specialties and Styrian delicacies at countless stalls
  • Around 35,000 visitors annually from across Styria and beyond
  • A day traditionally regarded as Leoben's "unofficial public holiday"

When will the 2027 date be announced?

The Gösser Kirtag traditionally takes place on a weekday in October. The exact 2027 date is usually announced by the City of Leoben or Citymanagement Leoben later in the year. This page will be updated once the official date is confirmed.

Admission to the Gösser Kirtag

Admission to the Gösser Kirtag is traditionally completely free, no ticket is required. Costs only apply to food, drinks and the fairground rides along the market street.

Visitor Tips: Getting There and Accommodation in Leoben

  • Travel by train is recommended, Leoben's main station is only about a ten-minute walk from downtown
  • As the Kirtag traditionally takes place on a weekday, expect heavier traffic and limited parking downtown
  • Evenings can already turn cool in early October, so a warm jacket is advisable
  • Since the Kirtag attracts many day visitors, book accommodation in Leoben early once the date is confirmed
