Welcome to Advent at Admont Abbey 2026
In December 2026, the Benedictine Admont Abbey in Austria's Styrian highlands once again turns into one of the most atmospheric Christmas markets in the country. Now in its 27th edition, the abbey nestled among the mountains of the Gesäuse invites visitors to a celebration of craftsmanship, regional food and quiet festive moments. The market runs across two Advent weekends, from December 4 to 6 and December 11 to 13, 2026, and is the town of Admont's main Christmas event.

Program and Schedule: What to Expect in Admont
The market runs Friday through Sunday on both weekends. On December 4, 5, 11 and 12, 2026, stalls are open from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm, and on December 6 and 13 from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm. During the same hours, the abbey library is open from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm at a reduced entry rate, with guided tours at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm. A detailed daily schedule with concerts, services and children's activities is published by the abbey each year on its website. Within Admont itself, this market is the only Christmas event of regional significance, smaller festivities in neighboring towns such as Liezen are separate, considerably smaller occasions.

Visitors who also want to see the abbey library and museum during market days pay a reduced special rate compared to the regular admission price; the exact figure for this Advent rate was not conclusively published at the time of research and should be checked on site or on the official website.
