The Christmas markets along the Alsace Wine Route rank among the most beautiful and authentic in Europe. In 2026 the fairy-tale villages of Kaysersberg, Riquewihr and Eguisheim open their doors from 27 November. Nestled among medieval half-timbered houses, narrow lanes and vineyards, the villages transform into a glowing Christmas wonderland filled with regional crafts, mulled wine and Alsatian specialities. Admission is free everywhere.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026
The Wine Route markets offer a mix of daily and weekend openings. They stand out for high quality and regional products – no mass-produced goods, but genuine craftsmanship. The lighting and historic setting make an evening visit especially magical.
Kaysersberg Christmas Market
The authentic craft market in Kaysersberg takes place only on the four Advent weekends: 27–29 November, 4–6 December, 11–13 December and 18–20 December 2026, Fridays to Sundays from 10:00 to 20:00. The location is the Cour de l’Arsenal and the area behind Sainte-Croix church at the foot of the castle ruins. Carefully selected artisans present original creations. A farmers’ market complements the offering. Kaysersberg was voted France’s favourite village in 2017 and is regarded as one of the most authentic markets in the region.
Riquewihr Christmas Market
From 27 November to 20 December 2026 the market in Riquewihr is open daily (Monday to Friday approximately 10:00–18:30, Saturday and Sunday until 19:00/19:30). The fully preserved medieval village within the town walls, one of the “Plus Beaux Villages de France”, turns into a living fairy tale. Chalets with crafts, Alsatian wines and treats line the streets. The evening is particularly atmospheric when the lights of the winegrowers’ houses shine.
Eguisheim Christmas Market
Eguisheim opens from 27 November to 23 December and again from 27 to 30 December 2026 (closed 24–26 December). The concentrically laid-out village with its colourful half-timbered houses is one of the most beautiful villages in France and is said to have inspired Disney. Around 30 chalets with regional products and crafts, wandering musicians and the illuminated ramparts create an especially intimate atmosphere. The market carries the “Villes et Villages de Noël” label.
Tickets & Admission for the Alsace Christmas Markets Kaysersberg
Admission to all the listed markets in Kaysersberg, Riquewihr and Eguisheim is free of charge. Costs only arise for food, drinks and purchases. Typical prices for vin chaud and specialities are in the single-digit euro range. Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Kaysersberg
- Best arrive by train to Colmar and use the Christmas shuttles (Navettes de Noël) to the villages – practical and eco-friendly, especially on weekends.
- Warm, weatherproof coat, sturdy shoes and layered clothing are essential – the vineyards can be windy and cold.
- Book accommodation in the villages or in Colmar early, as Advent weekends are very popular.
- Arrive early in the morning, especially in Kaysersberg and Riquewihr, to avoid crowds and enjoy the best light atmosphere.
- Combine the markets with a walk through the vineyards or a visit to the castle ruins in Kaysersberg for panoramic views.
