Welcome to the Altausseer Kiritog 2027 in Altaussee

The Altausseer Kiritog is one of the largest and most traditional folk festivals in Austria. Organised by the Altaussee Volunteer Fire Department, the three-day event takes place every year on the weekend of the first Sunday in September at Fischererfeld. In a historic wooden-pole tent without loudspeaker music, up to 20,000 guests in traditional dress celebrate with brass music, grilled chicken and cool beer from the salt mine.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2027

The Altausseer Kiritog 2027 is expected to take place from Saturday 4 September to Monday 6 September. On Saturday the tent traditionally opens at 12:00 with the noon siren. On Sunday and Monday the festivities start at 10:00. Celebrations continue into the night. There is no loudspeaker music – the atmosphere is created by live brass music and guests singing along. The festival has followed the same principles since 1961: free entry, wooden-pole tent and no reservations.

Tickets & Admission for Altausseer Kiritog

Admission to the Altausseer Kiritog is free of charge. There are no table reservations. Food and drinks are paid for in cash. A half-litre of beer usually costs around 5 Euro, a grilled chicken about 9 to 10 Euro. Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Altaussee

  • Use the shuttle buses from Bad Aussee, Grundlsee and Bad Mitterndorf – parking is limited and subject to a fee
  • Wear traditional dress (Dirndl or Lederhosen) if possible – it is part of the festival culture
  • Book accommodation in Altaussee or the Ausseerland early, as the region is fully booked on these days
  • Arrive early to find a place in the tent – there are no reservations
  • Bring cash, as card payment is not possible in the tent
