The Altdeutscher Weihnachtsmarkt in Bad Wimpfen ranks among the oldest and most characteristic Christmas markets in Germany. On the first three Advent weekends of 2026 (27–29 November, 4–6 December and 11–13 December) the listed historic Old Town with its Staufer imperial palace transforms into a romantic Christmas wonderland.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026
The market takes place exclusively on the first three Advent weekends: 27–29 November, 4–6 December and 11–13 December 2026. Opening hours are Fridays and Saturdays from 11:30 to 21:30 and Sundays from 11:30 to 20:00. In addition to strolling through the festively decorated alleys, visitors can enjoy a varied supporting programme with concerts, guided tours, the nativity exhibition and the popular gourmet village. The atmosphere is defined by the scents of baked apple, mulled wine, pine branches and gingerbread.

Admission to the Altdeutscher Weihnachtsmarkt is free of charge. There are no tickets or entrance fees. Drinks, food and purchases at the stalls are paid separately. Mulled-wine mugs can be brought along or purchased on site.

Altdeutscher Weihnachtsmarkt 2026 – First Advent Weekend
From 27 to 29 November 2026 the market opens the season throughout the historic Old Town. Over 100 stalls, the gourmet village and the first appearances of St Nicholas and the Christ Child create a festive start.
Altdeutscher Weihnachtsmarkt 2026 – Second Advent Weekend
From 4 to 6 December 2026 the programme continues. Especially popular are the Christmas stories with St Nicholas and the evening night-watchman tours.
Altdeutscher Weihnachtsmarkt 2026 – Third Advent Weekend
From 11 to 13 December 2026 the final weekend takes place. Many visitors use these days for last-minute gift shopping and to fully enjoy the festive atmosphere in front of the Blue Tower.
Adventsstube Bad Wimpfen 2026
In addition to the main market, the smaller local Adventsstube takes place on selected dates (including in December) in the Zehntscheune – a cosy meeting place with regional character.
