Welcome to the Back to the Woods 2027 in Garching
Back to the Woods is the sister festival of Schall im Schilf, organized by the same team (Kellerkind / Hytide). This one-day techno and house open-air traditionally takes place in late summer on the grounds of the TU Munich Research Center in Garching and offers a unique atmosphere in a wooded setting. Exact dates for 2027 have not yet been announced; the event is expected to take place in August 2027.

The festival typically runs from 12:00 noon until 01:00 at night. Tickets & Admission for Back to the Woods Garching
Tickets for previous editions were in the range of approximately 35–50 euros. Presale usually starts a few months before the event and often sells out quickly. Current prices and sales start for 2027 have not yet been announced. Tickets will be available via the organizers’ official website (schallimschilf.de / kellerkindmusik.de) and partner platforms. Entry is from age 18.
Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Garching
- Travel by U6 to Garching-Forschungszentrum or Garching-Hochbrück is recommended; the venue is only a short walk from the station. Parking is limited – public transport is preferred.
- Bring weatherproof and comfortable clothing plus sturdy shoes; the natural site can become muddy in rain.
- Book accommodation in Garching or Munich early, especially for summer weekends.
- Don’t forget a water bottle and sun/rain protection; sustainable food options are available on site.
- Use the aftershow or take the night U-Bahn back to Munich after the festival.
