Welcome to Bamberg zaubert 2027 in Bamberg
Whenever it is summer holiday season at Hogwarts, the UNESCO World Heritage city of Bamberg turns into one giant open air variety show. For many years now, Bamberg zaubert has drawn several hundred thousand visitors to the old town on one weekend in July, where around twenty stages and squares become performance spaces. Admission is completely free.

Program and Schedule: What to Expect in 2027
Bamberg zaubert traditionally runs from Friday to Sunday on the third weekend of July. In recent editions, performance areas opened Friday in the late afternoon, Saturday around midday running well into the night, while Sunday wraps up a little earlier. The exact 2027 dates and full program have not yet been confirmed and will be published by Stadtmarketing Bamberg on the official website in spring.
Tickets and Admission for Bamberg zaubert
Bamberg zaubert is entirely free, no ticket is required. As a thank you to the performers, it is customary to give hat money, a voluntary donation collected right after each act. Visitors who want to support the festival further can also buy a festival badge.
Visitor Tips: Travel and Accommodation in Bamberg
- Since the old town gets very crowded that weekend, arriving by train or public transport is strongly recommended
- Parking in the city center is limited, so designated parking areas on the outskirts are a good alternative
- Comfortable shoes are worth it since the program is spread across many squares and lanes
- Accommodation in Bamberg should be booked early given the large number of visitors
- Bringing some cash for hat money at the performance areas is a nice gesture toward the artists
