The official cultural calendar of Bansko Municipality lists a festive New Year’s Eve concert on Nikola Vaptsarov Square on 31 December 2026 and the traditional Kukeri celebration on the same square on 1 January 2027. In recent years the square programme started around 23:30 and closed with a fireworks display; the 2026/2027 artist line-up is usually announced in December. Daytime still belongs to the ski area; after dark the focus shifts to the pedestrian streets, the Glazne footbridge and hotel ballrooms.
Several four- and five-star properties (including Kempinski Grand Arena, SPA Resort St. Ivan Rilski, Green Life, Regnum and Lucky Bansko) already advertise New Year gala evenings for 31 December 2026: multi-course menus or buffets, Greek and Bulgarian live acts, folklore ensembles, DJs into the early hours and often hotel fireworks. In town, formats range from gourmet menus and themed parties to clubs that open to walk-ins after midnight. The public square programme needs no ticket; a seated dinner does, and tables sell out early.

Access to the square concert, fireworks and Kukeri procession has historically been free. Paid options typically range from about 50 to 128 euros for bar and restaurant parties and from about 144 to 235 euros per adult for hotel gala dinners (child rates are common). Overnight packages with breakfast, half board or all inclusive are priced separately; many hotels make the 31 December gala compulsory and sell it out weeks in advance. Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Bansko
- Most guests arrive via Sofia (about 160 km, roughly 2.5 to 3 hours by car or coach); allow extra time on winter mountain roads and carry snow chains.
- Nights in the mountains are freezing and often snowy: pack warm, waterproof layers, sturdy winter boots and gloves, even for the square.
- New Year is peak season: book hotels and apartments early, especially for 30 December 2026 to 2 January 2027.
- Taxis are scarce after midnight; staying within walking distance of Nikola Vaptsarov Square or Pirin Street makes the return easier.
- Plan the Kukeri procession for the morning of 1 January and check lift tickets in advance, as the ski area is normally open after New Year.
