Welcome to the Salzburger Bergadvent 2026 in Großarl
From November 20 to December 20, 2026, the village center of Großarl in the Salzburg region turns into one of Austria's best known alpine Christmas markets. Framed by the peaks of the Hohe Tauern and Niedere Tauern mountain ranges, the market opens every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, plus December 7 and 8, 2026, each day from 2 to 8 pm. The Salzburger Bergadvent is intentionally designed as a quiet counterpart to the busy Christmas markets of larger cities, focusing instead on genuine local tradition and regional craftsmanship.

In the neighboring village of Hüttschlag, a smaller, separate Christmas market runs alongside the main event. It opens from November 21 to December 20, 2026, on Saturdays and Sundays plus December 8, 2026, from 4 to 7 pm. Visitors to the Großarl Bergadvent can easily combine it with this quieter, family oriented market in the same valley.
Adventsingen at the Parish Church of Großarl
On several evenings during the Advent season, including November 28 and December 6 and 12, 2026, the Adventsingen concert takes place at 8 pm in the parish church of Großarl. Choirs, brass musicians and Christmas storytelling create a reflective evening atmosphere. Admission costs 15 euros, with free entry for children up to age 14; since the church seats up to 800 people, no reservation is required.
