Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in The Hague
- Getting there: Prefer walking, cycling or public transport. Free unattended bike parking on site. Bus 20 and trams 1, 9, 15 and 17 stop nearby; from Den Haag Centraal it is only a short walk. Coming by car is discouraged; parking is possible in nearby garages (including under the Malieveld, limited capacity).
- Weather: Early May in The Hague is often mild but windy and changeable. Bring layers, sturdy shoes and a rain poncho if needed. Hearing protection is recommended near the main stages.
- Accommodation: Book hotels and apartments in The Hague or Scheveningen early if you stay overnight – 5 May is a national holiday and can be busy.
- On site: Outside food and drink are often restricted; follow cup and cashless rules as in previous years. Families and veterans have dedicated areas.
- Not the same as Rotterdam: Bevrijdingsfestival Zuid-Holland (ZH) is a separate free festival in Het Park by the Euromast in Rotterdam. For The Hague, only Malieveld and the Provinciehuis apply – use the Den Haag website and city calendar for accurate info.
