Welcome to the Bregenz Festival 2027

Lake Constance is once again home to the world's largest floating stage: from 21 July to 22 August 2027, the Bregenzer Festspiele bring opera, concerts and theatre to Bregenz. Giuseppe Verdi's "La traviata", staged by Damiano Michieletto, returns to the lake stage, while the rarely performed opera "Penthesilea" by Othmar Schoeck premieres in the Festspielhaus.

Highlights

  • "La traviata" by Giuseppe Verdi on the lake stage (returning production)
  • Premiere of "Penthesilea" (Othmar Schoeck) in the Festspielhaus on 21 July
  • Concerts by the Vienna Symphony Orchestra under several conductors
  • A concert by the Symphony Orchestra Vorarlberg with Camilla Nylund
  • A total of 28 performances of "La traviata" running through 22 August
  • Musical direction by Kirill Karabits and Pietro Rizzo

Program

"Penthesilea" opens on 21 July 2027 at 7:30 PM in the Festspielhaus, with further performances on 25 July and 2 August. On the lake stage, "La traviata" premieres on 22 July at 9:15 PM and continues on numerous further evenings through 22 August (9:15 PM in July, 9:00 PM in August). The program is rounded out by four orchestral concerts: the Vienna Symphony Orchestra performs under Domingo Hindoyan (with clarinetist Martin Fröst), Giedrė Šlekytė and Petr Popelka (with pianist Alice Sara Ott), while the Symphony Orchestra Vorarlberg closes with an evening dedicated to the Great American Songbook featuring soprano Camilla Nylund.

Tickets

Advance sales for "La traviata", "Penthesilea" and the orchestral concerts open on Sunday, 23 August 2026, at 9:00 PM in the festival's online shop. Prices for "La traviata" range from around 31 euros (category 8, Sunday through Thursday) up to 214 euros (category 1, Saturday), depending on category and day of the week; a surcharge of 16 euros per ticket applies on premiere nights. Lounge and Premium categories, which include access to both the lake stage and the Festspielhaus, range from around 364 to 518 euros.

Visitor Tips

  • Book tickets early, as popular dates sell out quickly.
  • Bring rain protection, since the lake stage is not covered.
  • Pack warm clothing for evening performances; temperatures drop by Lake Constance even in high summer.
  • Traveling by train and bus is recommended due to limited parking.
  • A free introductory talk takes place at 7:00 PM before each "La traviata" performance.
