Welcome to the Bremerhaven Christmas Market 2026
From November 23 to December 30, 2026, the city center of Bremerhaven once again turns into a festive town of wooden stalls by the sea. The market stretches from the Große Kirche through the pedestrian zone to Theodor Heuss Platz, combining classic Christmas market charm with the maritime character of this North Sea port city. In 2025, more than 400,000 visitors attended, making the Bremerhaven Christmas Market one of the most important dates on the city's event calendar. Unlike the larger Christmas market in Bremen, about 60 kilometers away, Bremerhaven offers a more compact and family oriented experience with a clear connection to its harbor and coastal identity.

Bremerhaven Christmas Market: The Main Market Around the Große Kirche
The main area runs from the Große Kirche through the pedestrian zone (Bürgermeister Smidt Straße) to Keilstraße. Stalls selling mulled wine, roasted almonds and savory specialties line up alongside craft stands and gift stalls. Fairy tale huts tell children classic stories, and on weekends Santa hands out tangerines and nuts on Theodor Heuss Platz.
Kleine Weihnachtswelt: Handmade Crafts on Theodor Heuss Platz
On Theodor Heuss Platz, the Kleine Weihnachtswelt opens during Advent weekends. In previous years it ran on Friday afternoons and all day on Saturdays and Sundays, showcasing handmade goods such as woodwork, ceramics, jewelry, and honey wine. The exact 2026 schedule will be published closer to the event by Erlebnis Bremerhaven GmbH.
Weihnachtswerft: Live Music in Front of the Former Karstadt Building
The Weihnachtswerft is the musical heart of the market, traditionally set up in front of the former Karstadt department store building on Bürgermeister Smidt Straße. On weekends it hosts shanty choirs, cover bands and entertainers, usually in the late afternoon and early evening. The detailed 2026 program had not yet been announced at the time of writing.

Program and Schedule: What to Expect in Bremerhaven
In previous years, the market has been open daily from 11 am to 9 pm, with the exception of December 24 to 26, when the stalls remain closed for the holidays. The exact opening hours and detailed program for 2026, including concerts, children's activities and parades, had not been fully published at the time of writing and are traditionally announced in autumn on the website of Erlebnis Bremerhaven GmbH.

Visiting the Bremerhaven Christmas Market is completely free. No ticket is required; only rides such as the Ferris wheel and individual food or drinks at the stalls are paid for on site.
Visitor Tips: Travel and Accommodation in Bremerhaven
- From Bremerhaven main station, the city center is easily reached by city bus, including lines toward Hochschule Bremerhaven / Stadttheater or Große Kirche
- By car, the A27 leads directly to Bremerhaven, with parking available at the Columbus Center car park and the Havenwelten car park, among others
- Late November and December bring cold and often windy North Sea weather, so warm, weatherproof clothing is recommended
- Since the market draws visitors from across the region, accommodation in Bremerhaven should be booked early, especially for Advent weekends
