Program and Schedule: What to Expect in 2028
Every evening after dusk, the old town of Brixen comes alive with light. Freely accessible installations are typically open from 9 pm to midnight, while areas such as the Schenoni site and Franzensfeste Fortress keep their own daytime hours. The program is rounded out with workshops, dance performances and talks that bring together art, sustainability and community. Exact dates and the full program for 2028 have not yet been announced and are expected to be published closer to the festival.
Tickets and Admission for the Water Light Festival Brixen
Most installations throughout the city are free to visit. A Festival Pass is required for access to five selected special venues. For the 2026 edition, the pass cost 11 euros in presale and 15 euros afterward for adults, with reduced prices for young people, students, seniors, and free entry for children and visitors with disabilities. Final pricing for 2028 has not yet been confirmed.
Visitor Tips: Travel and Accommodation in Brixen
- Brixen sits directly on the railway line between Bolzano and Innsbruck, making arrival by train very convenient
- The compact old town is best explored on foot, with many installations only a short walk apart
- Spring evenings in South Tyrol can still be cool, so a warm jacket is a good idea
- Since Brixen is a small and relatively uncrowded town, accommodation should still be booked early during the festival
