Brussels marks the 2026/2027 turn of the year with lights, music and a major public celebration. 31 December 2026 and 1 January 2027 focus on the Grand Place, the Atomium and the Sainte-Catherine district. Winter Wonders already lights the centre from 27 November 2026 to 3 January 2027. The exact official fireworks programme for New Year's Eve 2026 is usually published by the City of Brussels only in December.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026/2027
The detailed official line-up for New Year's Eve 2026/2027 had not been released as of August 2026. In recent editions the City of Brussels opened the Atomium esplanade (Place de l’Atomium, 1020 Brussels) at 21:00 with a DJ set, added 3D laser mapping around 23:40 and launched a roughly 15-minute fireworks display at midnight. Entry was free, with bag checks and bans on glass bottles and private fireworks.
In the centre, the Grand Place and Sainte-Catherine remain the places for lights, a midnight toast and a long walk. Winter Wonders (27 November 2026 to 3 January 2027) usually runs daily from 12:00 to 22:00, but closes at 18:00 on 24 and 31 December, when the Grand Place sound-and-light show is typically cancelled. Clubs, concert halls and restaurants publish their own programmes closer to the date; anyone planning a nightclub should reserve well in advance.
Tickets & Admission for New Year's Eve Brussels
The public fireworks at the Atomium have been free in recent years. Winter Wonders is free to enter; some attractions such as the Ferris wheel or ice rink may charge extra. Paid New Year's Eve parties, club nights and gala dinners recently ranged from about 25 to 90 euros, with premium dinners higher. 2026/2027 prices will appear with each pre-sale on visit.brussels, plaisirsdhiver.be and club websites. Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Brussels
- Take metro line 6 to Heysel or Houba-Brugmann for the Atomium; use Gare Centrale, De Brouckère or Bourse for the centre. Driving to the Heysel plateau is a poor option because roads often close.
- Late December in Brussels is cold, often near freezing, with wind and rain. Wear layers, sturdy shoes and a waterproof jacket.
- Hotels near the Grand Place and Sainte-Catherine sell out for New Year's Eve – book accommodation early.
- An e-scooter ban across the region is common on this night, and private fireworks are usually forbidden. Travel light; large bags can be refused at the Atomium gates.
- Buy club tickets in advance. After the fireworks, public transport queues are long – allow extra time or walk through the illuminated centre instead.
