Budapest Spring Festival 2026 – Central Europe's Biggest Cultural Celebration
From 2 to 17 May 2026, Budapest transforms into one of Central Europe's greatest cultural stages. The 45th Budapesti Tavaszi Fesztivál, themed Szabad Tavasz (Free Spring), brings together over 150 events at more than 40 venues across the entire city. From the city centre to the districts of Soroksár and Budafok, concert halls, museums, bars, markets and public squares come alive with performances and exhibitions. Founded in 1981, the Budapest Spring Festival is Hungary's most prestigious annual cultural event and draws visitors from across Europe every year.

Program
The festival covers all major art forms: symphony concerts, opera, ballet, contemporary dance, jazz, theatre, visual arts and film run in parallel across the city throughout the two-week programme. The main venues include Müpa Budapest (Béla Bartók National Concert Hall and Festival Theater), the Liszt Academy of Music, the Hungarian State Opera House, the Budapest Music Center, Vigadó Concert Hall, Várkert Bazár and the Uránia National Film Theatre. A defining feature of the festival is its strong presence in public spaces: many events take place in squares, parks and markets and can be attended free of charge.
Tickets
Many events at the Budapest Spring Festival are free to attend, particularly the open-air concerts and street performances. Concerts in concert halls and theatres require tickets, with prices ranging from approximately 3,000 to 25,000 HUF (roughly €8 to €65) depending on the venue and performance. Tickets are available through the official festival website at btf.hu. Advance booking is strongly recommended for popular evening programmes such as opera and orchestral concerts.
