What Is the Bukta Festival?
The Bukta Tromsø Open Air Festival is a rock and indie music festival held every summer on the beach at Telegrafbukta in Tromsø since 2004, making it one of the northernmost music festivals in the world. Set between snow capped mountains and the midnight sun, Norwegian and international bands perform for a crowd that pairs the concerts with fresh local seafood and craft beer.
When Does the Bukta Festival 2027 Take Place?
Official dates for 2027 have not been announced yet (as of August 2026); the organizer typically publishes new dates and ticket information on bukta.no. For reference, the 2026 edition took place on 17 and 18 July at Telegrafbukta, and the festival is traditionally held in July. This page will be updated once the 2027 dates are confirmed.

Getting to Tromsø and Where to Stay
Telegrafbukta sits at the southern tip of Tromsø island, about a fifteen minute walk from the city centre. Extra buses (routes 33, 34 and 40) run between downtown and the festival grounds during the event. Since Tromsø sees heavy cruise ship and nature tourism traffic in summer, booking accommodation well in advance is recommended.
Tickets and Prices
Ticket prices for 2027 have not been set yet. For comparison, 2026 day tickets started at around 1,654 NOK (roughly 145 euros), with weekend passes also available. Tickets are sold exclusively through the official bukta.no website and tend to sell well, so buying early is worthwhile.
Visitor Tips
- Pack warm, weatherproof clothing, as Tromsø weather can be changeable even in July.
- Professional recording equipment, glass bottles and outside drinks are not allowed on the festival grounds.
- Day tickets can be picked up in advance at Nerstranda Center to avoid queues at the gate.
- The free "Bukta for Everyone" program is well suited for families and non drinking guests.
- Nearby attractions like Mack Brewery and the Polaria Arctic Experience pair well with a festival visit.
