Welcome to Bunter Sommer Neustadt 2026
From 19 to 21 June 2026, Martin Luther Platz in Dresden's Äußere Neustadt district turns into a colorful neighborhood festival for the fourth time. Bunter Sommer Neustadt (BSN) is widely seen as the unofficial successor to the legendary Bunte Republik Neustadt (BRN), which last took place in 2019. The festival is organized entirely by volunteers from the association Synthese e.V., with music, culture and street food by and for the neighborhood's residents at its core.

Program
The festival opens on Friday, 19 June, from 6:00 PM and runs until 11:30 PM. On Saturday, 20 June, it continues all day from 11:00 AM to 11:30 PM, including a big neighborhood breakfast starting at 10:00 AM on the square. Throughout the day, local bands, choirs and dance groups perform across the five stages, alongside children's magic shows and a guided walk through the Old Jewish Cemetery. On Sunday, 21 June, the festival winds down gently from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM. The detailed program is published on the association's website starting each March.
Tickets
Admission to Bunter Sommer Neustadt is free; the festival is funded through donations and support from local businesses. Visitors who wish to contribute can support Synthese e.V. by bank transfer, PayPal or a voluntary donation on site.
Visitor Tips
- Traveling by tram is recommended; nearby stops include Bautzner/Rothenburger Straße (line 11), Pulsnitzer Straße and Bischofsplatz (line 13).
- From Dresden Central Station, tram 11 goes directly to Martin Luther Platz.
- Bringing your own table, chair or dishes makes it easy to join the neighborhood breakfast.
- The district gets very busy during the festival; parking nearby is limited.
- The association regularly looks for volunteers; sign up through its website.
