Welcome to CA Vilar de Mouros 2026

From 18 to 22 August 2026, the small village of Vilar de Mouros, in the municipality of Caminha near the Spanish border, once again becomes the stage for the oldest rock festival on the Iberian Peninsula. Founded in 1965 as a folk music festival, its legendary 1971 edition is often called the "Portuguese Woodstock". Since 2016, the festival has been organized under the name CA Vilar de Mouros by the event company Surprise & Expectation.

Program

Gates open at 3:00 PM on all five days of the festival. Yungblud opens the event on 18 August, followed by a night of punk and ska with Dropkick Murphys, The Hives and Less Than Jake on 19 August. On 20 August, a British night brings Britpop and psychedelic rock with Kasabian and Kula Shaker. The rest of the lineup includes Kaiser Chiefs, KALEO, Ugly Kid Joe, War, Marky Ramone, Fishbone and Cabaret Voltaire, alongside newcomers such as The Molotovs and Sydney Ross Mitchell. Shows run into the early morning hours, with the site closing around 4:00 AM.

Tickets

Daily tickets cost 55 euros. For multiple days, festivalgoers can choose between a four day pass (valid from 19 to 22 August) for 130 euros or the full five day pass for 160 euros. Both multi day passes include free access to the riverside campsite, subject to capacity; daily ticket holders can buy a camping pass on site for 5 euros per day. Children up to 6 years old enter free when accompanied by an adult.

Visitor Tips

  • Traveling by car is recommended; free parking is available near the site, depending on capacity.
  • Regular shuttle buses run between the festival grounds and Caminha train station.
  • The camping area sits right on the river, with shaded trees, showers and washing facilities.
  • Open fire is only allowed in the designated barbecue area of the campsite.
  • August in northern Portugal can get warm; pack light clothing and sun protection for the day, but bring a jacket for the cooler nights by the river.
