Welcome to the Cala Mijas 2027 in Mijas
Cala Mijas is the indie and electronic festival on the hills above La Cala de Mijas on Spain’s Costa del Sol: camping, sunsets and stages with a Mediterranean view. The 2022 and 2023 editions ran in late August and early September at Sonora Mijas (Cortijo Colorado). Promoter Last Tour cancelled the planned 2024 edition after a dispute with Mijas Town Hall; there was no festival in 2025 or 2026. A 2027 return has not been officially confirmed – dates, lineup and tickets are still outstanding. Check only calamijas.com before you travel.
Highlights & Attractions at Cala Mijas in Mijas
- Open-air on about 145,000 square metres at Cortijo Colorado: hills, trees and sea views, roughly an 18- to 20-minute walk uphill from La Cala de Mijas beach.
- A mix of indie, alternative and electronic music – previous editions brought international headliners and Spanish acts across several stages.
- Official camping (last held at the former Mijas Hippodrome) plus glamping tents, linked by shuttle to the site and the town.
- Multiple stages (in 2023 these included Sunrise, Sunset, Victoria, La Caleta, Oasis and El Torreón), running from afternoon into the night.
- A real beach connection: La Cala de Mijas is close by, and past editions also ran free sets and DJ areas nearer the sea.
- Sustainability measures from previous years: cashless festival wristband, reusable cups with a deposit, and a natural hillside site rather than a concrete compound.
- Shuttles from the campsite, the car park, Las Lagunas (Mijas/Fuengirola) and extra buses from Malaga-Costa del Sol Airport.
Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2027
There is no 2027 lineup. Historically Cala Mijas ran three days (Thursday to Saturday) around the August/September turn. In 2022 (1–3 September) headliners included Arctic Monkeys and Liam Gallagher; in 2023 (31 August–2 September) the bill featured The Strokes, Florence + The Machine, Arcade Fire, Foals, IDLES, Moderat, Underworld, M83, Siouxsie, Metronomy and Amyl and the Sniffers, plus Spanish names such as Amaia, Lori Meyers, Cariño, Judeline and La Plazuela. More than 60 acts over three days was the 2023 scale.
The last edition mixed afternoon and sunset sets with electronic music into the early morning. Exact door and curfew times for a possible 2027 edition have not been published; in previous years the site came alive in the afternoon (around 16:00 as a guide) and the club/DJ stages ran late. Day-by-day schedules were posted on calamijas.com shortly before the event. Whether Last Tour, Mijas Town Hall or another promoter will revive the festival in 2027 is unclear – the original promoter has since built Kalorama in Madrid.
Tickets & Admission for Cala Mijas Mijas
No tickets are on sale for 2027. The official site calamijas.com still carries the 2024 cancellation notice; a 2027 on-sale has not opened. For orientation, the last documented 2023 prices (euro) were: day tickets from about 65 euro in the early window, later around 75 to 82.50 euro; a three-day pass at 150 euro on promotion, later up to about 189 euro. Camping was about 30 euro extra per person (it sold out fast); glamping started at about 99 euro extra for an Easy Tent and reached around 750 euro for an Emperor Tent. Instalments were available in the official shop. 2027 prices may differ – or there may be no edition at all. Do not buy from unofficial resellers until an authorised on-sale is live.
Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Mijas
- Getting there: Malaga-Costa del Sol Airport (AGP) is about 30 to 40 minutes away. Buses to La Cala de Mijas include the M-119, M-224 and M-220; Fuengirola is the nearest Cercanías rail stop, then continue by bus. Sonora Mijas at Cortijo Colorado is a steep 18- to 20-minute walk from the beach – previous editions ran free festival shuttles from the car park, the campsite and Las Lagunas.
- Weather and clothing: Late August and early September on the Costa del Sol often mean 28–32 °C by day and mild nights. Rain is rare; the sun is strong. Pack high-factor sunscreen, a hat, plenty of water and sturdy shoes for the hillside site; a light shirt or thin hoodie is usually enough after dark.
- Where to stay: Official camping was last a few kilometres away at the old Mijas Hippodrome (shade nets, showers, lockers, shuttle). Hotels and apartments in La Cala de Mijas, Fuengirola and Calahonda fill up in peak season – only book once dates are confirmed, and use cancellable rates.
- On site: Previous editions were cashless (top-up wristband) and used deposit reusable cups. Shade on the hills is limited; a water bottle (if allowed) and breaks in the tree-covered areas (La Caleta in 2023) help in the heat.
- Important: Cala Mijas 2027 is not a confirmed event. After two editions (2022, 2023) came the 2024 cancellation. Do not lock in travel or lodging until calamijas.com or Mijas Town Hall officially publish dates, tickets and a lineup.
