Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026/2027
In recent editions the programme often ran from 30 December to 1 January: warm-up DJ sessions and theatre on the first evening, the main New Year's Eve concerts after 21:30 on 31 December, then afternoon live music on New Year's Day. Midnight is marked on the Piazza Yenne stage, followed by a DJ set. Parallel rap, dance or jazz bills keep other squares busy. Do not rely on last year's names; check comune.cagliari.it and Cagliari Turismo in December 2026 for the confirmed bill, access gates and traffic ordinance.
A large official fireworks display is not guaranteed every year. Informal fireworks from terraces do appear, while the city recommends against loud firecrackers. Glass and metal drink containers are often banned in the historic centre on New Year's Eve. Expect road closures around Largo Carlo Felice, Piazza Yenne and Via Roma, and look for extra CTM night buses as in previous years.
Tickets & Admission for New Year's Eve Cagliari
Public square concerts and open-air celebrations in Cagliari are normally free of charge. There is no municipal ticket for Piazza Yenne or the bastions. You only pay if you book a private restaurant cenone, a hotel gala or a club party; those packages vary widely and often start well above 50 EUR per person. Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Cagliari
- Cagliari Elmas Airport (CAG) is about eight kilometres from the centre; train, bus and taxi connect easily. Inside the city, walk or use CTM buses, as large parts of the old town close to traffic.
- Late December is mild but damp: typical highs around 15–16°C and lows near 7°C. Rain is common, so wear layers, sturdy shoes and bring a compact rain jacket.
- Stay in Marina, Stampace or Castello to walk to the stages. New Year's dates sell out – book early if you want a terrace or a sea view for midnight.
- Leave the car in a peripheral car park. Tow-away zones around the event streets are strictly enforced.
- Reserve dinner before 21:00 or eat early. After 22:00 the flow towards Piazza Yenne becomes dense, and many tables near Via Roma are already taken.
