The Carnaval de Santa Cruz de Tenerife 2027 is regarded as the second-largest carnival in the world after Rio de Janeiro and transforms the capital of Tenerife into a spectacular celebration of colour, music and fantasy. From 22 January to 28 February 2027, galas, competitions and street parties take place under the theme “Roma Eterna: El Imperio del Carnaval”. Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2027

The carnival opens on 22 January 2027 with the inaugural gala and musical groups contest. This is followed by children’s and adult murgas phases, choreographic shows, the Children’s Queen election and the Adult Queen Gala on 17 February. Street carnival begins on 19 February with the opening parade, the Rhythm and Harmony contest, the grand Coso on 23 February and the Burial of the Sardine on 24 February. The festival closes on 28 February with Domingo de Piñata and a large fireworks display.

Many indoor events take place at the Recinto Ferial, while street parties and parades fill the centre of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The atmosphere blends samba rhythms, satirical lyrics and a unique mix of tradition and modernity.
