Melk Advent Market in Melk: Advent Village Beneath Melk Abbey
Just about 5 kilometers from Schallaburg lies the town of Melk, home to the world famous baroque Melk Abbey. The Melk Advent market transforms the historic old town, from the main square to the town hall square, into an illuminated Advent village featuring arts and crafts, choral singing, brass band music and a large Advent calendar on the facade of the Alte Post building. In the 2025 season the market ran from November 28 to December 21, though exact 2026 dates had not yet been officially announced at the time of research. Many visitors combine a trip to Schallaburg with a stop at the Melk Advent market, since the two locations are only a short drive apart.
