Welcome to the Coburg Vogelschiessen 2026
From 31 July to 9 August 2026, the Anger fairground in Coburg once again hosts the city's largest and oldest folk festival. The Coburg Vogelschiessen has been documented since 1444, making it one of Bavaria's most traditional marksmen's festivals; due to its size and atmosphere, it is often called the "little Oktoberfest" of the region.

Program
The festival begins on Friday, 31 July 2026, with fairground operations from 2:00 PM; in the evening, the mayor opens the Vogelschiessen with the traditional beer tapping in the festival tent at Anger, followed by live music and an opening fireworks display. The following Sunday, after a festival church service, the great marksmen's parade moves through the old town; the highlight is the handover of the historic 1715 guild flag at Coburg's town hall, accompanied by numerous bands and visiting marksmen's societies from near and far. Throughout the week, a seniors' afternoon, a children and family day and daily live music keep visitors entertained until the festival closes after ten days on 9 August 2026.
Tickets
Admission to the fairground is free. Costs only apply for rides, food and drink in the festival tent, and the crossbow shooting competition, which is open to both adults and children.

- Arrive early on opening night and at weekends, as the fairground gets busy.
- The Sunday morning parade is a great way to combine a visit to Coburg's old town with the festival.
- Find a spot with a clear view of Anger for the opening fireworks.
