Welcome to the New Year's Eve 2026/2027 in Cork
New Year's Eve and New Year in Cork are a city-wide celebration rather than one single official festival, centred on 31 December 2026 and 1 January 2027. Grand Parade, Oliver Plunkett Street, MacCurtain Street and the River Lee fill with lights, pub sessions, hotel galas and late-night music. Full 2026/2027 line-ups are usually released in late autumn; the pattern follows recent years of Corkmas lights, trad sessions and ticketed parties.
Highlights & Attractions at New Year's Eve in Cork
- Festive city-centre lighting and the Corkmas Ferris wheel on Grand Parade (in recent years open through New Year's Eve afternoon)
- Traditional Irish music sessions in pubs such as Sin É and The Gables, plus the Lee Sessions Trad Trail
- Hotel gala dinners with live bands and a midnight toast, including the Metropole Hotel on MacCurtain Street
- Club nights and themed parties at venues such as Cyprus Avenue and Voodoo Rooms
- Family pantomimes at The Everyman and Cork Opera House across the holiday period
- West Cork option: Bantry has hosted a free family fireworks gathering on Wolfe Tone Square in previous years
- Riverside walks and viewpoints along the River Lee and quays such as Patrick's Quay

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026/2027
31 December 2026 typically starts with afternoon festive activity on Grand Parade, then shifts into pubs, restaurants and ticketed nights. Cork City has not always staged a large official midnight fireworks display; local reporting has described official city fireworks as uncommon. Do not assume a confirmed River Lee show for 2026/2027 until Cork City Council or Pure Cork publishes it. Bantry in West Cork has been the more reliable fireworks option in recent seasons.
1 January 2027 is quieter: leftover panto performances, trad sessions, cafés and walks by the Lee. Exact artists, door times and ticket links for 2026/2027 should be checked from November onwards on purecork.ie, venue sites and local listings.
Tickets & Admission for New Year's Eve Cork
Street atmosphere, many pub sessions and Corkmas viewing are free (0 Euro entry). Ticketed club nights in recent years started around 14 to 20 Euro. The Metropole New Year's Eve gala was priced at 85 Euro per person, including a reception and four-course dinner. Luxury hotels such as Hayfield Manor sell multi-night New Year packages with dinner, live music and a midnight toast; those packages cost substantially more than a single party ticket and are booked with the hotel. Confirm 2026/2027 prices and availability with each venue; sales usually open in November and December.
Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Cork
- Getting there: Cork Airport is close to the city; buses and taxis serve the centre. Trains arrive at Kent Station. Taxis are scarce after midnight on New Year's Eve, so book ahead or stay within walking distance of Grand Parade.
- Weather and clothing: Expect rain, wind and cold. Waterproof layers, sturdy shoes and a warm hat are essential, especially by the river.
- Where to stay: City-centre hotels and properties near College Road sell out. Book early if you want a gala package or a room within walking distance of the pubs.
- Check listings late: Corkmas hours, session times and club bills change each year. Recheck Pure Cork and Cork City Council in December 2026.
- Set expectations: Cork celebrates in many small rooms and streets, not one arena-scale countdown. If fireworks are essential, verify Bantry and any official city announcement separately.
