Instead of a muddy field, this is a music holiday: half board, wine with dinner and the beach a short walk from your room. The festival programme itself starts at 14:00 on 30 September and finishes on the night of 4 October; 29 September is arrival day and 5 October is departure.

Costa Festival 2026 in Albufeira is a five-day programme wrapped in a seven-day stay. Guests arrive on 29 September; concerts and workshops run from 14:00 on 30 September through the night of 4 October. Days mix stage sets with ukulele workshops, choir, ensemble, singarounds, open mic and optional paid trips (birdwatching, island and walking excursions). Evenings are for the main concerts, then ceilidhs and the disco. The bill is folk- and acoustic-led – singer-songwriters, British and Irish roots, often seated and close to the players.

The detailed daily timetable is issued on site or shortly before arrival by the Costa Festival team. Extra nights before the festival are available at the Grande Real (subject to availability), plus one night after. Evening meals for Grande Real guests are taken in-house; according to the organiser, those meals cannot be taken at the Grande Real by guests staying in other properties.

Tickets & Admission for Costa Festival Albufeira

This is not a conventional day-ticket festival. Access is sold as a package: room, meals and a five-day pass. All figures below are in euro, converted from the official package prices (rate as of September 2026). The lowest listed places are at Alfagar Alto da Colina, from about 932 euro per person in a three-share one-bed apartment (breakfast); two-share apartments there from about 1037 euro. At the Grande Real (half board) the range runs from about 1481 euro (two-bed apartment, four sharing) to about 2325 euro (sea-view room, sole occupancy). Almost every Grande Real category is on the waiting list; Alfagar solo apartments are sold out. A deposit is required. Flights are extra. Albufeira also charges a municipal tourist tax of 2 euro per person per night, payable at the hotel. Book only via costafestival.co.uk and check remaining apartments and the waiting list there.

Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Albufeira

• Getting there: Faro Airport (FAO) is about 35–40 km / 30–40 minutes from the resort. Packages include meet-and-greet and transfers to the Grande Real and Alfagar. An optional overland coach from the United Kingdom is sold separately. By car, follow Estrada de Albufeira towards Olhos de Água / Santa Eulália. Albufeira old town is roughly 6 km away; the GIRO town bus links Santa Eulália, the marina, the centre and Ferreiras railway station.
• Weather and clothing: Late September and early October on the Algarve often bring daytime temperatures around 22–26 °C, a still-swimmable sea and cooler evenings. Pack layers, a light jacket for night sessions, comfortable shoes for optional walks (some uneven ground, 3–4 hours) and swimwear for beach and pool.
• Where to stay: Costa Festival 2026 is a resident event – without the booked hotel or apartment package there is generally no festival access. The Grande Real is largely waitlisted; limited Alfagar apartments were still listed. Extra nights must be requested in advance. There is no on-site camping.
• On site: The beach is at the door, with spa, pools and gardens on the resort. Optional watercolour, birdwatching and island trips cost extra. If you want the old town, the marina or Vilamoura (casino about 12 km), go before the evening shows.
• Tourist tax and booking: Pay 2 euro per person per night on site in high season. Remaining places and the waiting list are handled only through the official website; 2025 sold out, and 2026 is in high demand.
