The Dachauer Volksfest is the social highlight of the year in the Dachau region and one of the most popular folk festivals in the Munich area. From 7 to 16 August 2027 the Ludwig-Thoma-Wiese at the foot of the old town turns into a festive centre for ten days with five tents, rides and Bavarian tradition. The festival is especially valued for its authentic atmosphere and significantly lower beer prices compared to the Munich Oktoberfest.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2027

The Dachauer Volksfest lasts ten days and traditionally takes place around the Assumption Day holiday. On opening Saturday the day begins with a concert in front of the town hall, followed by the parade to the Ludwig-Thoma-Wiese and the official beer tapping in the large festival tent. Further highlights include the senior citizens’ afternoon, children’s day, the grand fireworks and the Dachauer Bergkriterium. The tents are open daily from 12:00 to 24:00, with music ending by 23:00 at the latest.

Tickets & Admission for Dachauer Volksfest

Admission to the Dachauer Volksfest is free of charge. There are no entrance fees. Food, drinks and rides are paid for on site. Beer prices are significantly lower than at the Munich Oktoberfest. • Best reached by S-Bahn (S2) to Dachau station – the festival grounds are only a few minutes’ walk away

• Book accommodation in Dachau or Munich early as the festival attracts many visitors
• Plan especially for opening day and the fireworks
