Welcome to the Derry Halloween Festival 2026 in Derry
From October 28 to 31, 2026, the historic Walled City of Derry~Londonderry marks its 40th anniversary as home to Europe's biggest Halloween celebration. For four nights, the centuries old city walls, narrow streets and squares around the Guildhall become a stage for folklore, illuminated installations and a huge costumed parade.

Program and Schedule: What to Expect in Derry
The trail runs on the evenings from Wednesday to Friday, winding through the old town from Guildhall Square along Shipquay Street, the Diamond and Bishop Street into the Cathedral Quarter. The festival builds to its climax on Halloween night itself: the Carnival Parade sets off around 7 pm on October 31, followed by the fireworks finale over the Foyle. For the 40th anniversary, a pilot timed entry system is being introduced for parts of the upper city walls.
Tickets and Admission for the Derry Halloween Festival
The Carnival Parade and the fireworks display remain completely free and open to everyone. For selected zones of the Awakening the Walled City trail, the local council is piloting a timed entry booking system in 2026, at a cost of roughly 1.20 euros per ticket. Some additional experiences, such as guided ghost tours or theatre performances, may carry a separate charge; exact prices are published on the official festival website.
