Welcome to the Dessau Christmas Market 2026 in Dessau-Rosslau
The Dessau Advent Market takes place from 23 November to 23 December 2026 on the central market square in the heart of the Bauhaus city. Under the motto “Dessau in a glow of lights”, more than 50 trader stalls, light installations and illuminated figures transform the city centre into a festive Advent atmosphere. Daily from 10:00 to 20:00 (Friday and Saturday until 21:00, Sunday from 11:00) mulled wine, rides and a real ice rink invite visitors to linger.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026
The main market on the market square forms the centre of the Advent season in the Bauhaus city. Opening traditionally includes the cutting of a stollen. In addition to the stalls, the ice rink and rides provide entertainment for the whole family. The daily cultural programme on the stage includes music, fairy-tale hours and Christmas performances.
Christmas Market in the Marienkirche
From 8 to 13 December 2026 the traditional arts and crafts market takes place in and in front of the historic Marienkirche (more than 20 years of tradition). Around 45 craftspeople and artists present unique items made of wood, ceramics, glass, felt, jewellery and more inside the Gothic church. A small medieval market outside the portal complements the offer. Fairy-tale readings, Advent music, concerts and puppet shows create a particularly atmospheric setting. Opening hours: Tuesday to Friday 12:00–19:00, Saturday 11:00–19:00, Sunday 11:00–18:30.

Additional smaller markets take place in the districts (e.g. Waldersee, Mildensee, Kochstedt) as well as the Dessau Christmas Circus and concerts in the Marienkirche. The combination of a modern city market and a historic church market makes Dessau-Rosslau a varied Advent destination.

- Arrival by train to Dessau main station; the market square is within walking distance. By car via A9 (exit Dessau-Süd) or B185; use multi-storey car parks in the city centre.
