Welcome to Diagonale 2027 in Graz
From April 7 to 12, 2027, Graz turns into the center of Austrian cinema for the thirtieth time. The Diagonale, Austria's festival of Austrian film, screens around one hundred current Austrian productions in competition across the city's cinemas; feature films, documentaries, shorts and innovative formats all have a place in the program. Since 1998, the festival has been the most important meeting point for the domestic film industry and for film fans from Austria and abroad.
Highlights
- Around 100 current Austrian film productions in competition
- Austria's highest endowed film prizes, awarded by international juries
- Opening film at the Helmut List Halle
- Diagonale Forum with panels and discussions on the film industry
- Diagonale Film Meeting, the festival's industry gathering
- Special programs and retrospectives beyond the competition
Program
The festival traditionally opens at the Helmut List Halle, after which the program spreads across several cinemas in downtown Graz. Alongside the film competition, whose top Austrian awards are handed out on the closing day, the Diagonale hosts a Forum for talks and debates as well as the Film Meeting for industry professionals. The full lineup with all film titles is usually released in March, shortly before the festival begins.

Ticket sales open on March 14 at 10:00 AM, both online and at the sales point in Kunsthaus Graz.
