Welcome to the Dickens Festival Deventer 2026

On the weekend of 12 and 13 December 2026, the historic city of Deventer steps back in time. For its 34th edition, the historic Bergkwartier quarter transforms into a 19th-century English town straight out of the novels of Charles Dickens. Thousands of tiny lights, Christmas trees, and over 950 costumed characters create an unmatched festive atmosphere.

The festival runs on Saturday, 12 December and Sunday, 13 December 2026, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM each day. The historic alleys—including Walstraat, Golstraat, and Bergkerkplein—come alive with orphans, clerks, carol singers, and wealthy gentry. Musical groups and local theatre actors complete the immersive cultural experience.

Tickets

Admission to the Dickens Festival is 6 € per person, with children up to 7 years old entering for free. Tickets can be purchased at the box office right at the start of the queue (cash and card accepted). Advance online booking is not available.
