Welcome to Donauinselfest 2026

From 3 to 5 July 2026, Vienna's Danube Island transforms for the 43rd time into Europe's largest open-air stage. With free admission, visitors can enjoy more than 700 hours of programming across 14 stages along a 4.5 kilometre festival area stretching between Nordbrücke and Reichsbrücke. For the first time, the festival takes place on Vienna's first school holiday weekend, officially kicking off summer under the motto "Sommer an!" for around 253,000 Viennese schoolchildren.

Highlights

  • Free admission on all three festival days
  • 14 stages with around 200 acts and over 700 hours of programming
  • Opening inclusion concert with Thorsteinn Einarsson on Friday
  • Live broadcasts of the FIFA World Cup 2026 (round of 32 on Friday, round of 16 on Saturday)
  • Headliners including Nico Santos, Zartmann, Giant Rooks and the Earth, Wind & Fire Experience
  • Rock The Island Contest featuring six emerging acts, all with female leads
  • Extensive family and children's program on the Okidoki-Kinderfreunde stage
  • Four Magenta Safe Zones staffed by trained awareness teams

Program

For 2026, the festival concentrates exclusively on the three core days from Friday to Sunday, with the previous Thursday pre-opening event dropped. Friday focuses on inclusion and youth: starting at 12:00 PM, Thorsteinn Einarsson opens with an accessible concert accompanied by sign language interpreters, followed by My Ugly Clementine, Giant Rooks and Zartmann. Saturday brings together world hits and Austropop with Katrina (formerly of Katrina & The Waves), the Earth, Wind & Fire Experience and Gert Steinbäcker. Sunday forms the grand finale with Nico Santos, PÄM, KAMRAD and NESS. Across the 14 stages, musical genres range from rock and pop to hip-hop, schlager, electronic music and traditional Viennese song.

Tickets

Donauinselfest has always been a free festival; no ticket is required for entry. The event is organised by SPÖ Wien in cooperation with the City of Vienna and numerous local partners.
