Welcome to the Düsseldorf Christmas Market 2026
From 19 November to 30 December 2026, downtown Düsseldorf transforms into a true winter wonderland. What makes the Rhine metropolis special is that its Christmas market isn't just one central square—it consists of six different thematic markets spread across the historic Old Town (Altstadt) all the way to the luxurious Königsallee (Kö). Each market boasts its own unique charm and individual design.

Program
The Christmas markets are open daily from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM (open until 9:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays). Visitors can stroll through the alleys, hop from market to market, and enjoy the diverse festive atmosphere. Please note: The markets are closed on Totensonntag (Sunday of the Dead, 22 November 2026) and on Christmas Day (25 December). On Christmas Eve (24 December), the markets close early at 3:00 PM.
Tickets
Entry to all six Düsseldorf Christmas markets is completely free. No tickets or reservations are needed. Separate fees apply only for specific attractions such as the Ferris wheel at Burgplatz or the ice skating rink, which can be paid on-site.
Visitor Tips
- Walking from the Ferris wheel by the Rhine through the Old Town to the Königsallee is the best route to experience all the markets.
- Use public transport (take the subway to Heinrich-Heine-Allee) as downtown parking garages fill up very quickly.
- The Angel Market (Engelchen-Markt) on Heinrich-Heine-Platz is highly recommended in the evening for its stunning golden lights, perfect for photos.
- Don't miss out on trying traditional Rhenish mulled wine (Glühwein) and potato pancakes (Reibekuchen).
- Wear warm clothing and comfortable shoes for extensive walking around the city center.
