Welcome to Ed O’Brien – An Evening With Blue Morpho 2026 in Hamburg

On Monday, 12 October 2026, Radiohead guitarist Ed O’Brien brings his second solo album Blue Morpho to the Grand Hall of the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg. The official Elbphilharmonie / Laeiszhalle listing titles the night »An Evening With… Blue Morpho«: foyer opens at 19:00, show starts at 20:00, promoted by Karsten Jahnke Konzertdirektion. Tickets remain on sale via the venue and Eventim, from 39 euro.

Highlights & Attractions at Ed O’Brien in Hamburg

  • A rare seated solo show from the Radiohead guitarist in a historic concert hall rather than a club or arena.
  • Live presentation of Blue Morpho (Transgressive Records, released 22 May 2026): psych-folk, atmospheric guitars, trip-hop pulse and stretches of luminous quiet.
  • The Laeiszhalle Großer Saal on Johannes-Brahms-Platz – about 2,000 seats, stucco, velvet and one of Hamburg’s finest acoustic rooms.
  • Tour band drawn from the album sessions: the European run features musical director Dave Okumu and ESKA; Hamburg’s official programme bills Ed O’Brien (guitar) as the named artist.
  • Seated concert with an interval: foyer bars before the show and during the break; hall doors typically open 30 minutes before start.
  • Price tiers from the Laeiszhalle and Eventim: 39 | 50.50 | 52 | 63.50 | 80.75 euro (listening seat with no view, standard seats, stalls/balcony), plus an Eventim booking fee of up to 3 euro.
  • Your concert ticket is valid on the day as an HVV public-transport ticket in zones A–F for travel to and from the hall.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026

Ed O’Brien has shaped Radiohead’s sound since the 1980s (Grammys, Ivor Novello Awards, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame). He has released solo work since 2019, first as EOB (debut Earth, 2020) and now under his own name. Blue Morpho was written between 2020 and 2025, produced by Paul Epworth and recorded in Wales and at The Church Studios in London. Seven tracks: Incantations, the title song, Sweet Spot, Teachers, Solfeggio, Thin Places and Obrigado. Album guests include Dave Okumu, Philip Selway, Shabaka Hutchings, ESKA and string arrangements by Tõnu Kõrvits with the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra.

The October 2026 European tour also visits Amsterdam, Milan, Paris and Berlin (Admiralspalast, 10 October) before Hamburg. The live show is conceived as a fluid, immersive evening rather than a note-for-note recreation of the record. An official Hamburg setlist and finish time have not been published; with an interval announced, expect a full concert night (a reasonable guide is around 22:30). Latecomers at the Laeiszhalle are generally seated only at the interval.

  • Getting there: Laeiszhalle, Johannes-Brahms-Platz, 20355 Hamburg. U2 Gänsemarkt or Messehallen, U1 Stephansplatz, bus 3 / X35 / 112 Johannes-Brahms-Platz. S-Bahn Stadthausbrücke is within walking distance. The concert ticket covers HVV zones A–F on 12 October 2026. • Weather and clothing: Mid-October in Hamburg is often 8–14 °C, with wind and rain. Wear layers, a proper coat and dry shoes. Hall rules apply: coats and bags from DIN A3 size to the cloakroom, no food or drink in the auditorium, phones silent, photography generally not allowed during the music.
  • Where to stay: Book early around Neustadt, Gänsemarkt, Dammtor and the inner city. The Laeiszhalle is central; from Hamburg Hauptbahnhof it is a short U-Bahn ride or about 20 minutes on foot.
  • Timing: Foyer opens at 19:00 (60 minutes before start); hall doors usually at 19:30. Be at the main entrance at least 30 minutes early. Re-entry to the hall is only guaranteed at the interval. Wheelchair spaces and a hearing loop are available; see elbphilharmonie.de for access details.
  • After the show: Foyer catering runs before the concert and during the interval. The inner city (Gänsemarkt, Großneumarkt) is walkable afterwards. Check your ticket category on the day – no-view listening seats are cheaper by design and have no stage sightline.
