Welcome to the Engadin Skimarathon 2027 in Engadin
The 57th Engadin Skimarathon takes place on 14 March 2027 on the 42 km course from Maloja to S-chanf. Marathon Week in the Upper Engadin runs from 6 to 14 March 2027 and is Switzerland’s largest mass-participation sports event as well as the world’s second-largest cross-country ski race. Around 13,500 athletes from more than 60 nations ski across frozen lakes, past Engadin villages and through a high-alpine winter landscape.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2027
Marathon Week 2027 opens on Saturday, 6 March, with a ceremony at Promulins Arena in Samedan. The Women’s Race starts around 10:00 on Sunday, 7 March. The Night Race leaves Sils at 19:00 on Thursday, 11 March. The timed Individual format on the original course is scheduled from 8 to 10 March. The main marathon and half marathon start from 08:15 on Sunday, 14 March 2027, in waves from the Maloja start area.
Finish cut-offs are in the afternoon in Pontresina and S-chanf. Feed stations, speakers and spectator points line the course. The S-chanf finish hosts awards, food stalls and live music. Check the official website for the latest timetable, because details can still change.
Tickets & Admission for Engadin Skimarathon Engadin
Watching from the course is free. Race entries are paid and rise as race day approaches. Official 42 km fees range from CHF 100 to CHF 190; the 21 km half marathon ranges from CHF 75 to CHF 165. At early-September 2026 rates that is about EUR 106 to EUR 202 for the marathon and about EUR 80 to EUR 175 for the half marathon. Selected junior year groups enter the half marathon free of charge. The Women’s Race is about CHF 65 to CHF 95 (around EUR 69 to EUR 101) and the Night Race about CHF 55 to CHF 85 (around EUR 58 to EUR 90). The Individual format costs CHF 20 (around EUR 21). Register on the official website via Datasport. Fields are limited, so early entry is recommended.
Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Engadin
- Travel by Rhaetian Railway to St. Moritz, Samedan, Pontresina or S-chanf; race Sunday brings special timetables and road closures around Maloja.
- March in the high valley is often cold, windy and sunny: pack layers, gloves, sunglasses and a strong wind shell.
- Hotels in St. Moritz, Pontresina, Samedan, Sils and Zuoz sell out during Marathon Week; book partner hotels early.
- Collect bibs at the Pontresina Marathon Village or on race morning in Maloja; the bib covers official transport rules published by the organizer.
- Fluorinated wax is banned. Free shuttles from the S-chanf finish to the railway station help 42 km finishers travel home.
