Welcome to the New Year's Eve 2026/2027 in Ennis
Ennis, the county town of County Clare on Ireland’s west coast, marks the 2026/2027 New Year with lit medieval streets, pub sessions and hotel dinners rather than one large civic fireworks festival. New Year’s Eve falls on Thursday 31 December 2026; New Year’s Day is Friday 1 January 2027. As of September 2026, Clare County Council and Visit Clare had not published a single official countdown concert with a confirmed line-up. Celebrations gather around The Square and O’Connell Street, in hotels such as the Old Ground and Temple Gate, and in live-music venues.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026/2027
There is no published town-wide outdoor countdown show for New Year’s Eve 2026 yet. A typical night starts with an early hotel or restaurant dinner, continues in pubs with live trad or a DJ, and peaks at a midnight toast. Ennis is one of Ireland’s best-known towns for informal traditional sessions, and many rooms stay open later on holiday nights. On New Year’s Day some hotels serve a carvery lunch; Treacy’s West County Hotel lists Mamma Mia – The Live Experience on Saturday 2 January 2027. Check Visit Clare, hotel pages and glór closer to December, because individual gigs are often confirmed only in late autumn.
Tickets & Admission for New Year's Eve Ennis
Walking the illuminated centre is free. Pub and club tickets often sit in the lower double-digit euro range; The Queens has previously sold New Year’s Eve entry via Ticket Tailor (booking fee included, 18+). Hotel gala dinners commonly run from about 50 to 150 euros per person; two-night packages with dinner, breakfast and a midnight toast cost more and depend on room type. Ireland uses the euro, so no currency conversion is needed. Final 2026/2027 rates should be booked directly with the Old Ground Hotel, Temple Gate Hotel, Queens Hotel Ennis or via Visit Clare; many festive menus appear only in the autumn.
Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Ennis
- Shannon International Airport is about 20 minutes away; trains and coaches link Ennis with Limerick, Galway and Dublin. Pre-book taxis after midnight.
- Late December is wet, windy and cold. Pack waterproof shoes, warm layers and a coat for Atlantic weather.
- Book town-centre rooms (Old Ground, Temple Gate, Queens) early; New Year weekends in Clare sell out.
- Council car parks have been free from mid-afternoon over previous festive periods; on-street rules usually stay in force. Confirm on clarecoco.ie before you travel.
- Ennis is a calm base for a New Year’s Day trip to the Cliffs of Moher or the Burren; many shops keep reduced hours on 1 January.
