Welcome to the Erfurt Christmas Market 2026
From 24 November to 22 December 2026, the Erfurt Christmas Market invites you to a magical experience in the capital of Thuringia. Celebrating its 176th edition, this historic market is considered one of the most beautiful in Germany and is the largest in the region. The medieval old town, featuring the monumental ensemble of St. Mary's Cathedral (Mariendom) and St. Severus Church (Severikirche), provides a breathtaking and unique backdrop for the pre-Christmas season.

Program
The market stretches from the Domplatz across the Fischmarkt to the Anger. Regular opening hours at the Domplatz are Sunday to Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Thursdays until 9:00 PM, and Fridays and Saturdays until 10:00 PM. In addition to fairground rides, the market features a rich program of events, especially on Advent weekends, with festive melodies and the scent of mulled wine filling the air.
Tickets
Admission to the Erfurt Christmas Market is completely free. No tickets or reservations are required, allowing visitors to freely wander through the historic squares and alleys during opening hours.
Visitor Tips
- On weekends, using public transportation or Park & Ride (P&R) facilities on the outskirts of the city is highly recommended.
- Be sure to taste local delicacies, especially the hearty Soljanka soup, which is perfect for cold December days.
