On the first Advent weekend, 28 and 29 November 2026, the medieval castle ruins of Burg Schwarzenfels in the village of Schwarzenfels, part of the Sinntal municipality in eastern Main-Kinzig district, will once again open their gates for one of Hesse's oldest and most atmospheric Christmas markets. Nestled between the Rhön and Spessart regions, the illuminated castle is visible from afar, drawing visitors from across the region for a two-day celebration of traditional crafts, regional food, music and community spirit. Admission is entirely free, as it has been throughout the market's more than thirty-year history, organised entirely by volunteers from the local AktivGemeinschaft Schwarzenfels e.V.
