Welcome to the New Year's Eve 2026/2027 in Faro
Faro, the capital of the Algarve, marks the turn of the year with an open street celebration in the downtown waterfront district. The focus of New Year's Eve and New Year events 2026/2027 is Jardim Manuel Bivar on Praça Dom Francisco Gomes, beside the marina and the Ria Formosa. The municipal party runs on the night of 31 December 2026 into 1 January 2027 and admission is free. As of late August 2026 the official 2026/2027 stage lineup had not yet been published; the city council usually announces artists in December.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026/2027
Faro’s public New Year’s Eve format is consistent even when names change. A warm-up act usually takes the Jardim Manuel Bivar stage from about 10:00–10:30 p.m. on 31 December. Fireworks over the water mark midnight, then the concert continues, often with a headline singer and a DJ later on. In 2025/2026 the bill included Manga Limão, Sara Correia and DJ Paulo Karussa; that cast should not be assumed for 2026/2027. Check cm-faro.pt and the Municipality of Faro channels in December for confirmed times and artists.
Christmas lights, local food and the cobbled Old Town shape the wider holiday atmosphere. Elsewhere in the Algarve you will also find ticketed hotel galas (for example in nearby Vilamoura); those are separate from Faro’s free civic party. New Year’s Day itself is quieter: marina walks, Baixa cafés and trips into the Ria Formosa are typical ways to continue the holiday.
Tickets & Admission for New Year's Eve Faro
The official Passagem de Ano at Jardim Manuel Bivar is a public event with free entry. You do not need a ticket for the street party; you only pay for food and drinks at nearby venues. Paid options are limited to private dinners, club nights or hotel Réveillon packages in Faro and the surrounding Algarve, which can cost several hundred euros and are not part of the city programme. Watch the Câmara Municipal de Faro website for updates on the free celebration.
Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Faro
- Faro Airport (FAO) is only a few kilometres from the centre; taxi, ride-hailing and the Aerobus serve downtown. Faro railway station is a short walk from the Baixa. Road access to the lower town is often closed after 11:30 p.m. — arrive early and expect crowd control.
- Late December and early January evenings usually sit around 10–16°C. Wind off the lagoon and possible rain call for layers, a windproof jacket and sturdy shoes on cobblestones.
- Old Town and marina rooms sell out for New Year’s Eve. Book lodging and dinner early; tables with a fireworks view are in high demand.
- Do not bring personal fireworks: the display is organised by the city. Stay behind barriers and follow steward instructions.
- Some stalls still prefer cash. After midnight the lanes are packed — agree a meeting point and plan your walk back to the hotel or station in advance.
