Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2027
The 2027 programme has not been announced. In 2026, Festas da Maia ran for eleven days (3–13 July). Main concerts usually started around 22:30 at Jardim das Pirâmides; street entertainment and secondary stages ran in the afternoon and evening. A typical schedule includes an opening equestrian parade and first fireworks, a folklore night, urban dance and band contests, an 80s tribute, a tunas festival, popular Portuguese acts, the religious procession, and closing concerts with fireworks.
The 2026 line-up included artists such as 4 Mens, Átoa, Emanuel, Mickael Carreira, Wet Bed Gang and Némanus. The 2027 bill is expected to be released in the months before the festival. Beyond Jardim das Pirâmides, events take place on the steps of the town hall, at Parque Central and other points in the city. Fireworks often mark the start and end of key nights.
Tickets & Admission for Festas da Maia Maia
Festas da Maia is generally free to attend. In 2026, most of the programme — concerts, folklore, procession, street animation and fireworks — required no ticket. There is no traditional ticket inventory; the event is organised by Câmara Municipal da Maia. Access and any fees for 2027 will be confirmed once the official programme is published. Check visitmaia.pt and cm-maia.pt. Any paid side events (if announced) will be listed separately — the core city festival remains free.
Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Maia
- Getting there: Maia sits in Greater Porto (about 10–15 km north of the centre). Reachable by metro (lines B/C, stations in Maia), bus and car via the A4/A3/A28. Jardim das Pirâmides is on Avenida Visconde Barreiros in the city centre. Expect traffic restrictions and limited parking on peak days (weekends and procession day) — public transport is the better option.
- Weather and clothing: July in northern Portugal is warm and often dry (typically 22–30 °C). Evenings can cool slightly; wear comfortable shoes for standing and walking, light summer clothes and optionally a light layer for late nights. For fireworks and large crowds, choose a spot with a clear view and a bit of space.
- Where to stay: Hotels and guesthouses in Maia, plus nearby Porto and Matosinhos. Book early for the first half of July if you plan several evenings on site. Many visitors come as day-trippers from Porto.
- On site: Tasquinhas and street stalls serving bifanas, grilled food and drinks define the arraial atmosphere. The craft and book fairs are worth an afternoon visit. The programme spreads over many days — opening night, procession day and the closing fireworks are especially rewarding.
- Stay updated: Rely only on Câmara Municipal da Maia and Visit Maia for 2027 dates, traffic notices and daily schedules. 2027 dates and line-up are not confirmed yet.
