Welcome to Festival Mediaval 2026 in Selb
From 11 to 13 September 2026, the Goldberg in Selb transforms for the seventeenth time into a medieval stronghold. Festival Mediaval is widely regarded as Europe's largest medieval and folk festival; since 2008 it has drawn thousands of visitors from across the region every year. The 2026 edition runs under the theme "Legends", honoring the festival's long history and community. Selb sits in the Fichtelgebirge region of Upper Franconia, right on the Czech border, and is known as the "Porcelain City", home to brands like Rosenthal and Hutschenreuther.

Program
The three day festival starts around midday on Friday, 11 September, and runs through Sunday evening. Alongside the concert program across several stages, visitors can explore a historical market with authentic stalls, a living encampment that recreates past eras, plus fire shows, acrobatics and theatre performances. Guests are welcome to arrive in medieval attire and become part of the festive "city" on the Goldberg. Workshops and activities for children and families round out the program.
Tickets
Three day festival tickets cost around 153 to 180 euros in advance; lower prices apply during the early bird phase until Christmas. Tickets are available through the official festival website, where exact opening hours and ticket categories for 2026 are kept up to date.
Visitor Tips
- Selb sits directly on the A93 motorway (Selb Nord/Süd exit); the Goldberg is signposted from there.
- The organizer recommends traveling by train for a more climate friendly journey.
