Event Details

Welcome to Festspiele Golling 2026

In the small town of Golling an der Salzach, not far from Salzburg, the courtyard of the medieval castle turns into an intimate stage every summer. Festspiele Golling runs from 23 June to 30 August 2026 and combines concerts, literary readings and cabaret with fine dining from the Döllerer restaurant; a concept that grew from five chamber music concerts in the year 2000 into a festival that now draws thousands of guests each summer.

Highlights

  • Concerts, readings and cabaret in the historic castle courtyard
  • Art and gastronomy package with the Döllerer restaurant
  • Renowned artists, including members of the Vienna Philharmonic
  • Program under the motto "Sommerfrische der Sinne" (a summer retreat for the senses)
  • Small, personal atmosphere inside a 700 year old castle
  • Three performances per week in July instead of the usual two

Program

Host Hermann Döllerer and his team bring together returning favorites and new names from music and theater each summer for performances in the castle courtyard. The program includes summer serenades, literary readings, cabaret and concerts spanning classical and lighter music; members of the Vienna Philharmonic are regular guests. Most evening performances start at 7:15 PM, while the opening and closing concerts open their doors as early as 6:00 PM. Many evenings continue afterward with a supper at Döllerer's restaurant or tavern.

Tickets

Tickets in the Rang Blau category cost between 43 and 63 euros depending on the event. Combining the ticket with a supper at Döllerer's tavern (Rang Gelb) costs between 98 and 118 euros. Once Rang Blau seats sell out, additional seating in Rang Grün becomes available. Tickets can be purchased online through the festival website or at the box office on the market square in Golling.

Visitor Tips

  • A rain poncho is mandatory; umbrellas are not allowed in the courtyard, and ponchos can be bought at the evening box office.
  • Doors typically open 45 minutes before the performance starts.
  • Only cash is accepted at the evening box office.
  • Golling is about 30 kilometers south of Salzburg and easily reached by train or car.
  • Popular dates tend to sell out early, so booking ahead is worthwhile.
