Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival 2026 – Classical Music Across Northern Germany's Most Beautiful Venues

From 13 June to 12 September 2026, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern becomes one of Europe's most remarkable classical music destinations. The Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern brings around 120 concerts to 90 venues across the region – from medieval churches and baroque palaces to historic manor houses, barn theatres and open-air stages. The opening concert on 13 June took place at the sold-out Konzertkirche Neubrandenburg, while the closing concert on 12 September at St. Georgen Church in Wismar features violinist Janine Jansen with the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra conducted by Alan Gilbert.

Artist in Residence: The Armida Quartet

The Armida Quartet serves as Artist in Residence for the 2026 festival, appearing in 19 concerts across the summer season. Martin Funda, Johanna Staemmler, Teresa Schwamm-Biskamp and Peter-Philipp Staemmler guide audiences through the full spectrum of string quartet repertoire – from classical works and tango to collaborations with jazz pianist Johanna Summer. The opening concert featured a rarely heard concerto for string quartet and orchestra by Louis Spohr.
