Welcome to the Fête de la Bière 2027 in Schiltigheim

The Fête de la Bière de Schiltigheim is the summer beer festival of Alsace’s Cité des Brasseurs – the brewers’ town just north of Strasbourg. Run by the Office des Sports, de la Culture, des Arts et Loisirs (OSCAL) with the City of Schiltigheim, it fills Place Alfred Muller (110 route de Bischwiller) for four days with a big tent, Alsatian beers, flammekueche and schlager. The 44th edition ran 31 July–3 August 2026 and is over; the 45th edition in 2027 is expected on the first August weekend, Friday to Monday. Exact 2027 dates had not been posted as of September 2026 – check ville-schiltigheim.fr once OSCAL publishes the calendar.

Some 20,000 to 30,000 visitors, hundreds of volunteers and more than 20 beers from Licorne, Meteor, Kronenbourg, Fischer, Perle, Bendorf and Brasserie de Schilick make this the biggest popular beer tent in the Strasbourg metro. Entry is free. You pay for drinks and food under the chapiteau; on Monday the UCAS Johrmärik adds a street braderie. Schiltigheim sits in the Eurometropolis of Strasbourg, a short tram or bus ride from the centre.

Highlights & Attractions at the Fête de la Bière in Schiltigheim

• Free admission under a large beer tent on Place Alfred Muller – Alsatian beer-garden energy without a ticket queue.
• More than 20 beers from the Brasseurs d’Alsace, anchored by local Brasserie de Schilick (formerly Storig) plus Licorne, Meteor, Kronenbourg, Fischer, Perle and Bendorf.
• Fair prices: in 2026 classic blondes were 3 EUR, other pours 4 EUR, the collector glass 5 EUR. Happy hour Sunday and Monday 16:00–18:00 with every beer at 3 EUR.
• A stage of schlager, folklore and cover rock; recent regulars include Robin Leon, Jean-Luc Filser (Racing Club de Strasbourg announcer), Les Joyeux Brasseurs and Sunday karaoke.
• Alsatian food from local associations: flammekueche by Flambées Tradition, pretzels, sausages, choucroute – roast beef from neighbourhood kitchens on Monday.
• Barrel tapping, barrel-lifting contest, festival mascot and a Safe Zone with the Red Cross, Entraid’Addict 67 and Ru’elles.
• UCAS Johrmärik on Monday (08:00–18:00) along route de Bischwiller and rues de la Mairie, Principale and des Pompiers – braderie, flea market and funfair in one.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2027

The ritual has been stable for more than four decades: Friday night opening with the official barrel tap, Saturday the longest party, Sunday family day, Monday tent plus Johrmärik. Use 2026 hours as a guide until 2027 times are out: Friday 17:00–00:30, inauguration at 18:00; Saturday 17:00–01:30; Sunday 16:00–23:30; Monday 11:00–00:30. Every beer is draught, poured into that year’s collector glass. Water, lemonade and alcohol-free fruit beers (Licorne joined that list in 2026) sit beside the taps – soft drinks were about 2.50 EUR in 2026.

The soundtrack is popular, not boutique: schlager trumpet, Alsatian brass, the odd Irish folk set, karaoke and cover rock. In 2026 The Bards of Sweeney opened Friday, Docteur Boost played Saturday, live karaoke filled Sunday, and Les Joyeux Brasseurs plus Challenger closed Monday; Robin Leon and Jean-Luc Filser ran through all four nights. The 2027 bill was not yet public – expect the same folklore-plus-dance-floor mix. About 20 associations cook; a Green Team sorts waste. Alcohol is dangerous in excess – breathalysers and a Safe Zone are on site.

The beer tent on Place Alfred Muller in Schiltigheim

Place Alfred Muller (Place de l’Hôtel de Ville until 2021) sits beside the town hall at 110 route de Bischwiller. An underground car park is below; the chapiteau with long wooden tables, taps and a stage goes up above in summer. This is not a city-wide trail of stalls but one dense tent – loud, social, no table bookings. Arrive early to sit; arrive late to stand at the bar. Schiltigheim Mairie is about a three-minute walk; tram stop Futura Glacière is about nine minutes.

Alsatian breweries under the tent in Schiltigheim

Schiltigheim is called Cité des Brasseurs because Fischer, Adelshoffen, Schutzenberger and, at times, Kronenbourg wrote industrial history here. In 2026 seven houses poured 20-plus beers: Licorne (Saverne), Meteor (Hochfelden), Kronenbourg (Obernai), Fischer, Perle, Bendorf (Strasbourg) and Brasserie de Schilick as the local house. Blonde, white, amber, rosé and fruit beers sit side by side; two blondes were 3 EUR in 2026, the rest 4 EUR, a litre around 5 EUR. The 2027 list usually appears in early summer on the city site.

UCAS Johrmärik – Monday braderie in Schiltigheim

Monday of the beer festival is also the Johrmärik of the Union des Commerçants et Artisans de Schiltigheim (UCAS, 31b rue Principale). From 08:00 to 18:00 a flea market, braderie and travelling traders fill route de Bischwiller and rues de la Mairie, Principale and des Pompiers, plus the non-sedentary traders’ market and the traditional roast beef. Brasserie de Schilick and the town’s brewing heritage

Brasserie de Schilick (formerly Storig) is the local name on the taps and often brews event beers. Pair the tent with brewing heritage in town: Fischer, Adelshoffen and Schutzenberger still shape the streetscape even after production moved. Kronenbourg now brews in Obernai, Meteor in Hochfelden, Licorne in Saverne – all three pour at the tent and work as day trips. Craft stop in Strasbourg: Bendorf. Brasserie Michel Debus in Schiltigheim is a separate restaurant, not the festival tent.

Fête de la Bière Saverne – Alsace’s big sister festival

Late August, Licorne’s Fête de la Bière takes over the Parc du Château des Rohan in Saverne – 27–30 August 2026 for the 15th edition. Unlike Schiltigheim, Thursday–Saturday evenings are ticketed (about 10 EUR in 2026 including cup, beer and a soft drink, under-18s free; Thursday early bird 7 EUR); Sunday is free. Castle park, big tent, barrel tap and an American Day on Sunday. TER/TGV from Strasbourg in 20–30 minutes. 2027 dates not yet fixed; see brasserielicorne.com. Do Schiltigheim in early August and Saverne at the end of the month.

Obernai beer fête and Meteor Bierfescht in Hochfelden

Obernai, home of the Kronenbourg brewery, runs a smaller club beer fête at Halle Gruber / Parking des Remparts – 21–22 August 2026, 18:30 to midnight, free entry, organised by Football Club des Sports Réunis d’Obernai. Hochfelden, Meteor’s home since 1640, holds s’Meteor Bierfescht under a tent in September – the more village-scale brewers’ party. Both are a TER ride from Strasbourg and sit beside Schiltigheim rather than replacing it: Schiltigheim remains the big free city tent of the Eurometropolis.

Oktoberfest-style nights in Strasbourg and Colmar

For Bavarian-style benches in autumn: Brasserie Le Meteor in Strasbourg (10 rue du 22 Novembre) stages a regular Oktoberfest with litre steins; Colmar Expo has built Oktober’FAV (beer and choucroute, 16–17 October 2026, Parc des Expositions, about 39 EUR with a set menu). Those are reservation evenings, not a free popular fête. Schiltigheim’s Fête de la Bière stays the summer Alsatian original without a table plan – closer to a German Schützenfest than to Munich, with the same tent logic: long tables, brass, mugs.

Tickets & Admission for the Fête de la Bière Schiltigheim

Entry to the Fête de la Bière in Schiltigheim is free; there are no day tickets and no table reservations. You pay only for food, drink and the deposit collector glass. 2026 price frame (OSCAL may adjust for 2027; 2026 prices were held steady): 5 EUR for the collector glass, 3 EUR for the two traditional blondes, 4 EUR for other beers, about 5 EUR for a litre, around 2.50 EUR for water or lemonade. Happy hour Sunday and Monday 16:00–18:00: all beers 3 EUR, plus a second alcohol-free drink free. Food comes from association stalls – cash or card depending on the stand. Official 2027 programme: ville-schiltigheim.fr. Saverne (above) is the nearby beer festival that does charge an evening ticket.

Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Schiltigheim

• Getting there: From Strasbourg Gare Centrale take tram B towards Hoenheim; alight at Futura Schiltigheim / Futura Glacière (about nine minutes on foot) or continue by bus C3, C5 or 60 to Schiltigheim Mairie (about three minutes). By car: underground garage under Place Alfred Muller and street parking on route de Bischwiller – tight at peak. If you drink, skip the car; breathalysers are at the tent.
• Weather and clothing: Early August in Alsace means heat under the canvas and a real chance of evening storms. Light clothes, sturdy shoes, a thin rain poncho. The chapiteau covers you; Monday’s braderie does not. Earplugs help in the front row.
• Where to stay: Schiltigheim has practical hotels on Strasbourg’s northern edge (Palais des Congrès, European Parliament). Strasbourg’s old town (Petite France, station) is 15–20 minutes by tram and has more atmosphere. Book August weekends early. Monday only (Johrmärik plus happy hour) works as a day trip from Strasbourg.
• Safety and pacing: Safe Zone, Red Cross and addiction prevention are part of the design. Families fit Sunday and Monday afternoons best; Friday and Saturday nights are packed and loud. Minors do not drink alcohol – including under the tent.
• How to combine: Brewing heritage or Strasbourg’s Grande Île in the morning, tent from 17:00. Monday: Johrmärik from 08:00, tent from 11:00, happy hour at 16:00. For a second beer festival, add Saverne in late August or Obernai/Hochfelden – the calendars stack, they do not clash on the same weekend.
