Welcome to the Fête de l'Huître 2027 in Cancale
Cancale in Brittany is widely known as France's oyster capital, and the Fête de l'Huître celebrates exactly that heritage right on the Port de la Houle. Framed by colorful fishing boats and views across the Bay of Mont Saint Michel, the day revolves entirely around the region's famous oysters, the people who farm them and their long standing tradition.
An exact date for the 2027 edition has not been officially confirmed yet. Past editions took place in late summer, on a single day somewhere between August and September at the Port de la Houle. Once confirmed, the date will be published by the organizing association and by the Cancale tourist office.

As the afternoon unfolds, cooking demonstrations, the popular oyster opening contest and live music performances follow, before the day winds down with an early evening concert at the harbor.
Tickets and Admission for the Fête de l'Huître Cancale
Access to the festival grounds at the Port de la Houle is completely free. Individual tastings, small dishes and oysters bought directly from the producers are priced at normal market rates on site, but there is no general admission fee.
Visitor Tips: Travel and Accommodation in Cancale
- Cancale is best reached via Saint Malo, from where regular buses run to the small coastal town
- Parking near the harbor fills up quickly during the event, so an early arrival or a short walk from the town center is worthwhile
- A light jacket is a good idea, as it can get cool by the harbor in the evening or when it is windy
- Accommodation in Cancale and nearby Saint Malo should be booked ahead of time during high season
- A walk out to the Pointe du Grouin or a look at the oyster beds at low tide makes a nice addition to the visit
