Welcome to the Flensburg Christmas Market 2026
From November 23 to December 30, 2026, Flensburg's old town turns into a softly lit winter village. Wooden chalets line Südermarkt, Holm, Große Straße and Nordermarkt, just a few kilometers from the Danish border, blending northern German calm with Scandinavian Christmas warmth in a way few other markets manage.
Highlights and Attractions at the Flensburg Christmas Market
- More than 60 festively decorated stalls with German and Danish crafts
- A ten meter Christmas tree on Südermarkt as the central meeting point
- The illuminated Christmas pyramid on Nordermarkt, the market's unofficial landmark
- The smallest bar in the world, famous for its Tallin punch
- A varied stage program with choirs, brass bands and dance groups on many market days
- Danish specialties such as gløgg and æbleskiver alongside classic German mulled wine
- A carousel, an ice rink and regular Santa visits for families with children
Südermarkt: The Festive Heart with Christmas Tree and Stage
Südermarkt is the heart of the market and stays open until December 23. Around the large Christmas tree you will find mulled wine stalls, the ski hut and the unusual witch house. It is the best spot for live music, warm drinks and a good overview of the whole market.
Nordermarkt: Christmas Pyramid and the Hygge Mile
At Nordermarkt, open through December 30, the large Christmas pyramid draws visitors who gather here for a relaxed chat over a warm drink. From here the so called Hygge Mile runs along Holm and Große Straße back toward the center, linking every part of the market into one continuous stroll.
Holm and Große Straße: Strolling Through the Historic Pedestrian Zone
Along the pedestrian zone between Holm and Große Straße, more stalls offer crafts, winter treats and gift ideas. The historic merchant courtyards along the way create a quieter, atmospheric setting away from the busier main squares.
Maritime Flair: The Harbour as a Backdrop
Flensburg's position on the fjord gives the market a distinct maritime character. An evening walk along the illuminated harbour pairs perfectly with a visit to the stalls and shows the city at its most romantic.
