Welcome to the Fränkisches Volksfest 2026 in Crailsheim

The Fränkisches Volksfest 2026 takes place from 18 to 21 September on the Volksfestplatz in Crailsheim. As the second-largest folk festival in Baden-Württemberg and the largest folk and homeland festival in the Hohenlohe-Franken region, it attracts around 400,000 visitors. Traditional dress, amusement rides, festival tents and the famous beer barrel tapping define the city’s “fifth season”.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026

The grounds open on Friday, 18 September at 14:00. The official beer barrel tapping follows at 18:00 in the Engel-Zelt. On Saturday and Sunday the large parades start at 10:30 through the city centre. Sunday also features an ecumenical church service, the Drais cycle race and the evening fireworks. Monday serves as a family-friendly closing day. The amusement park stays open late (Friday and Saturday until approx. 01:30, Sunday until 01:00, Monday until 24:00). The market and exhibition are open during the day.

Admission to the Fränkisches Volksfest is free of charge. Rides and food/drinks are paid separately. A Maß of beer costs €13.60 in 2026. Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Crailsheim

  • Arrive by car via the A6 (Crailsheim exit) or by train (Stuttgart–Crailsheim or Würzburg–Crailsheim lines). Special buses and extended services operate during the festival.
  • The Volksfestplatz itself is closed to cars – use the designated alternative parking areas at the approach roads (B 290, L 1066) and multi-storey car parks in the city centre.
  • Dirndl and Lederhosen are welcome and enhance the festive atmosphere; weatherproof clothing and comfortable shoes are recommended.
  • Book accommodation in Crailsheim and the surrounding area early, as the festival is very popular.
  • Arrive early or visit on Monday to avoid the largest crowds and enjoy the rides more relaxed.
