Right on the German Polish border, three festive events blend into one special Advent season in 2026. In Frankfurt (Oder), cityWEIHNACHT on the market square and the Advent market inside St. Marienkirche transform the city center, while across the Oder River in Słubice, Poland, the local Christmas market adds a cross border festive touch.
cityWEIHNACHT in Frankfurt (Oder)
From November 23 to December 20, 2026, cityWEIHNACHT invites visitors to the fountain and market square of Frankfurt (Oder) for the Advent season. Decorated stalls, a small Christmas fair and the scent of winter treats fill the city center.

Santa Claus has traditionally appeared on Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday through Sunday. Exact daily opening hours for 2026 will be published in autumn on the Frankfurt (Oder) and Słubice website.

Advent in St. Marien
On the second and third Advent weekends, expected to fall on December 5 to 6 and December 12 to 13, 2026, St. Marienkirche opens its doors for the traditional Advent market. Inside the largest hall church of northern German brick Gothic architecture, the setting and the festive market atmosphere merge into something quite special.

- More than 60 vendors offering natural goods, books, Ore Mountains crafts, glass, ceramics and jewelry
- The striking illumination of the choir with its historic painted ceiling

Program and Opening Hours
The market opens on both Advent weekends, Saturday and Sunday, from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm inside the Marienkirche on Oberkirchplatz. Between the two weekends, the church remains open for regular visits.

Admission costs 2 euros, 1 euro reduced, available at the information desk inside the church. Children under one meter tall enter free.

Christmas Market in Słubice
On the Polish side of the Oder, just a short walk across the city bridge from Frankfurt, Plac Bohaterów in Słubice is expected to turn into a small Christmas village from December 4 to 5, 2026. Together with the events on the German side, the Słubice Christmas market creates a cross border festive mood right in the middle of Europe.
Highlights at the Słubice Christmas Market
- A festively decorated carousel and stalls selling handmade crafts
- Community carol singing on the square
- A convoy of decorated vehicles that escorts Santa Claus into town
- Live music and performances by local artists
