During the second Advent weekend (expected December 4-6, 2026), the traditional Fritzlarer Weihnachtsmarkt opens on the historic market square. On the third Advent weekend (expected December 11-13, 2026), the absolute highlight takes place: the Advent in den Höfen 2026. During this event, historic inner courtyards, barns, and vaulted cellars—usually closed to the public—open their doors. This alternative market concept provides a more intimate setting away from the main square, featuring unique artisan crafts, acoustic music, and cozy gastronomy tucked away in the town's hidden, historical corners.
Tickets & Admission for the Fritzlar Winter Events
Admission to both the main Fritzlar Christmas Market and the "Advent in den Höfen" is completely free of charge for all visitors. Since these are public street festivals, no tickets are required. We highly recommend bringing enough cash (Euros), as many of the smaller artisan stalls and historic courtyard vendors do not accept credit cards.

- Transportation: Fritzlar is easily accessible via the A49 highway. Use the designated Park-and-Ride areas on the outskirts of town, as the historic center is mostly pedestrian-only during the market weekends.
- Weather & Clothing: December evenings in Northern Hesse can be quite chilly. Wear warm winter clothing, thermal layers, and sturdy walking shoes suitable for cobblestone streets.
- Accommodation: Because the "Advent in den Höfen" attracts visitors from all over the region, hotels and guesthouses in and around Fritzlar should be booked several months in advance.
