Event Details
What is the G! Festival and why is it so unique?
The G! Festival is widely considered one of the most remote music festivals on earth. Since 2002, the small coastal village of Syðrugøta on the island of Eysturoy in the Faroe Islands has turned into a stage in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean for three days each summer, surrounded by steep valleys and volcanic mountains. Musically the festival spans a wide range, from pop and folk to electronic music, mixing local Faroese artists with international acts.
When is G! Festival 2027?
An exact date for 2027 has not been confirmed yet. The 2026 edition took place from 16 to 18 July and sold out completely; the official website currently just says "See you in 2027". The festival traditionally runs in mid or late July, always before the Faroese national holiday Ólavsøka. This page will be updated as soon as the date is announced.
Where exactly does the festival take place?
The festival is held on the beach of Syðrugøta, right by the water of Gøtuvík bay on the island of Eysturoy. Set between the ocean, green hills and rugged cliffs, it is one of the most unusual concert settings in Europe; international outlets such as The Guardian and the New York Times have named the G! Festival one of the most extraordinary festival experiences in the world.
How do you get to the G! Festival in the Faroe Islands?
Most visitors arrive via Vágar Airport, from where Syðrugøta can be reached by rental car, bus or organized festival shuttle. Since accommodation on the Faroe Islands is limited, many attendees camp directly at the festival site or book guesthouses in the area well in advance.
What else does G! Festival offer besides the music?
- Family and eco friendly concept with workshops in music, dance and painting
- Yoga and meditation sessions right on the beach
- Community beach cleanups during the festival
- Watching from the water, as some locals traditionally follow the concerts by boat
How and where can you buy tickets?
Tickets are sold exclusively through the official website gfestival.fo. Since the festival is relatively small (usually around 6,000 to 8,000 attendees) and has sold out early in recent years, signing up for the newsletter ahead of time is worthwhile so you don't miss the 2027 ticket release.
